Paxos Festival

New Music Performances by Young Composers

In collaboration with the Composition Pathway of the Department of Music Studies of the Ionian University.

Within the course module “Composition and Performing Arts I” under the guidance of Dimitra Trypani (Lecturer) the students of the Composition Pathway of the Department of Music Studies of Ionian University, created, organized and performed a series of short music performances in selected locations across the town of Corfu (site specific projects) based on old newspaper articles. Those articles cover a thematic variety from penal cases that shocked Greek society to articles presenting social, historic or folk issues that enlighten unknown aspects of important people or social groups.

Six of the initial twelve performances will be shown on Paxos allowing those young composers and their music works to come in contact with a new audience in a new environment.

Composers presenting their works on the Paxos Music Festival stage are: Nikos Kanelakis, Agamemnon Maziotis, Manolis Bekrakis, Giannis Panagiotou, Christos Poulias and Sofia Skorda.
