6exi Contemporary Ceramics was founded in 2017 by Giorgos Vavatsie and Ifigenia Tsirou in Thessaloniki as a personal space for exhibition and creation. Soon, however, it developed into a venue for the presentation and introduction to the Thessaloniki public of fine contemporary ceramics though the organization of group and solo shows and seminars, welcoming propositions from a host of Greek and international artists.
Chris Boïcos Fine Arts is a gallery based in Paxos, Greece and in Paris. Its founder and director Chris Boïcos is of dual Greek and French nationality. His first gallery (Galerie Beckel Odille Boïcos 1999-2013) was based in Paris. He has organized since 1993 numerous art exhibitions in commercial galleries but also public venues and museums in France, Great Britain, the United States, Greece and more lately Ireland. He is currently planning the opening of a ceramic center in Paxos, Greece which is under construction and is scheduled to be inaugurated in 2026.
Chris Boïcos is also a professor of Art History who has taught, notably, for American university departments in Paris (University of Southern California, University of California, University of Delaware, University of Wisconsin…) and directs currently the online lecture program Paris Art Studies.
The non-profit association of the Friends of Paxos was created on Paxos in 2015 by Faye Lychnou and Chris Boïcos. The objective of the association is to initiate, encourage and organize cultural activities of every type on the island. FoP also produces Paxos Music Festival and sponsors the annual summer Irish Wings Irish cultural program in Paxos. The association encourages and participates in projects concerning the island’s architectural, cultural and natural patrimony, contributing in the realization of various projects of preservation at a time when public funds are limited in rural Greece.
