Paxos Festival 2019 is getting ready to open its doors for the 33rd year with more wonderful musical and artistic events.
Concerts begin on June 21st 2019 and will feature classical, contemporary, baroque, electronic and traditional Greek music by renowned Greek and foreign performers. The “Fireflies” series of concerts introduces talented young guitar and piano students from the best Greek and Italian Conservatories showcasing the results of their hard work. They deserve our support and warm applause. Irish Wings will fly for the third time on July 23rd introducing to Paxos the Sean Nos traditional singing style.
Our musical journey through the summer will end with a remarkable musical and theatrical event, a Paxos Festival co-production with the Greek National Opera and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation – “The Silent One”, a new work by Paxos Festival composer in residence, Dimitra Trypani which will premiere on our stage on September 9th, After it’s Paxos debut “The Silent One” will be produced at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera at the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center in Athens for three more performances in October 2019.
Our visual arts activities include photo, watercolor and painting exhibitions, a ceramic jewelry show, a ceramics workshop by some of the best ceramicists in Greece and a watercolor exhibition and workshop by Pavlos Habidis, an internationally established Greek artist. Guided tours at historic locations and monuments through Paxos footpaths network, book presentations and lectures on artistic and environmental topics complete this year’s events.
We hope you’ll join us!
