Amarilis is one of the leading exponents of her generation in the field of historically informed performance. Winner of many international prizes and distinctions – she has recently won the audience and Abel prizes at the International Bach-Abel Viola da Gamba Competition in Köthen- introduces us to the world of old western music and to viola da gamba, an instrument full of history, inspiring love and improvisational explosions.
Our Festival audience will enjoy Amarilis Duenas presenting a repertoire that connects the early Viola da Gamba repertoire to modern times, placing the instrument in the core of contemporary music as a source of inspiration, bridging it all with 18th century French and German works; and a surprise – homage to the island of Paxos that will delight us all!
