Alexis Pogrevnois is a Greek clarinetist and saxophone teacher, soloist and chamber/orchestral musician who frequently performs folk and popular music both nation-wide and internationally, with some of the best-known singers and bands of Greece. Along with his classical music studies, he enjoys exploring the techniques and interpretive style of Clarinet and Saxophone, playing traditional music in Greece and abroad and participating in musical performances and events with different ensembles and bands.
Alexis holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Performance from the Ionian University Music Department(Corfu) and two Masters Degrees: Modern and contemporary clarinet performance from the Conservatoire de Mons (Belgium) and Historical music practice of the baroque clarinet and the Chalumeau, from the University of Macedonia (Greece). He has studied with Fotis Terzis, Lambis Vasiliades, Dimitra Trypani, Ronald van Speandonck and Dimitris Kountouras among others.
His deep interest in music archives, his researching and transcribing of manuscripts and music scores, combined with his interest in the links between technology and music, have earned him the role of associate at the non-profit organization,BeArtive, which aims to develop, modernize and upgrade educational and artistic standards in Greece and support young artists and teachers involved in world music.
