Ana Topalovic is co-founder of Green Thing Ensemble Vienna with which, she has performed over 30 commissioned works and premieres. They have collaborated with the Zurich University of the Arts on the project “Polytempo”. MULTICELLO: when a single cello becomes a live orchestra”.

Ana Topalovic developed the multicello technique by combining different digital tools, in combination with the analog cello as well as a 5-string e-cello. The music can thus grow live from the acoustic monophony of the cello to a hybrid orchestral sound in a wide variety of nuances. It is important to her to be able to step out of the purely classical concert setting with this music and to be able to perform with minimal and highly mobile equipment in sometimes unexpected places.

Ana Topalovic is a lecturer for violoncello and modern playing techniques at the Richard Wagner Conservatory Vienna. She leads the Vienna Cello Studio and online learning platform “Vienna Cello Masterclass”. Ana is an honorary visiting professor at the “Jose Hernandez” Conservatory in Buenos Aires and a juror at several music competitions. As a music mediator (cello, composition, music concept) she played in the projects of the Jeunesses, in the Vienna Musikverein, Mozart Haus and in several music festivals. She is the founder and artistic director of the Festival “Treff • Kunst” in Vienna.

Ana Topalovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia and moved to Vienna at the age of 17. She received piano and cello lessons at a very young age. She began concert studies at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna with J. Bayrov. Afterwards she studied with M. Kliegel at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne and completed her master studies at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversitätwith M. Hornstein and L. Schulz-Bayrova. During this time she won several prizes in various competitions such as IBLA Grand Prize (over 400 applicants in a multisport competition). Ana and her projects have been supported several times by Thomastik-Infeld, Cultural Department of the City of Vienna and Austrian Federal Ministry of Culture (bmkoes)
