Dimitris Soukaras is a Greek Classical Guitarist based in London. He is considered one of the most promising musicians of his generation. 2021 marks the release of his first official album “Roots” for NAXOS international records. Dimitris studied with a full scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music the Master of Arts and the Advanced Diploma and he was awarded the DipRAM (the highest awarded confirmed by RAM). He was the first student of the Ionian University to complete his Bachelor Degree in three years instead of the usual five.
Dimitris is a beneficiary of 20 international awards. He is a D’addario artist, a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, a beneficiary of the Stradivary Trust, winner of the IGF;s Young Artists Platform and a Eurostring Artist of 2018/2019. Since 2019 he is founder and the Artistic Director of MUSA Concert Series.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Royal Academy of Music string Orchestra. Audentia Ensemble, Academica Athens Orchestra, Filarmonica Orchestra Campana, City of Patras String Orchestra, Ionio Symphony Orchestra, National Radio Contemporary Orchestra, Oradea de Stat Filarmonic Orchestra as well as the Athens Mandoline Orchestra. He has recorded for the BBC 3 and for the 3rd National Greek Radio Programme. He has performed a the Athens Megaron Concert Hall, the Kings Place London, Musikverein Wien, St. Martins in the Fields and in various music festivals across Europe, Canada and USA.
Composers such as the Grammy Award Winners Leo Brouwer and Sergio Assad have dedicated new compositions to him.
