Gogo Xagara is principal harpist in the Athens State Orchestra since 2001.
She studied harp at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki and at the Atheaneum Conservatory with Professor Maria Bildea. She received a scholarship by the State Scholarship Foundation and continued her studies next to Prof. Eira Lynn Jones at the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK. She has also completed her studies at the Theater Department of the Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki Art School.
She cooperated for many years as a principal harpist and soloist with the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and with most of the symphonic orchestras in Greece.
She is member of the Duo Choriamvos with flutist Nikos Nikopoulos, with which they perform in various Greek cities and festivals abroad. They represented Greece in 2005 at the 9th International Harp Conference held in Dublin and in 2008 they appeared at the International Flute Symposium in England.
She also teaches at the Filippos Nakas Conservatory.
