Nikos Tatassopoulos is considered one of the leading bouzouki virtuosos. He was born in the United States of America. He began playing the bouzouki with his father, soloist and composer Yannis Tatassopoulos. With folk music literally running through his veins, he began performing live in America at just 3 years old alongside his father.
He studied classical piano with Saul Roas and jazz guitar with Spyros Antonello. Together with his father, they gave performances and concerts throughout the United States until 1992, when Nikos moved to Greece.
In Athens, he performed with the biggest names in Greek music, and focused primarily on recording, teaching music, and traveling. He has collaborated with renowned musicians and performers such as: Giorgos Dalaras, Marinella, Tolis Voskopoulos, Litsa Diamanti, Antonis Vardis, Yiannis Vardis, Eleni Dimou, Giorgos Sarris, Glykeria, Yiannis Ploutarchos, Kostas Tournas, Themis Adamantidis, Kaiti Garbi, Alexandros Hatzis, Manolis Mitsias, Ilias Klonaridis, Irini Merkouri, Alexia, Zafeiris Mellas, Katerina Korou, Stamatis Kokotas, Dimitris Kokotas, Poly Panou, Giorgos Margaritis, the musicians Stelios Zafiriou, Dimitris Vizas, Christos Konstantinou, Manolis Karantinis, Panagiotis Stergiou, Thymios Stouraitis, Iordanis Tsomidis, and many others.
He is renowned for playing with remarkable ease and passion, demonstrating a deep knowledge and understanding of the traditional repertoire.
