Vasilis Agrokostas

He is a detersive artist, moving comfortably within the Greek traditional and the Western music environment. He is a composer, performer, player of Istanbul and Aegean lyra. He also plays the lute, thiamboli or souravli, a traditional type of thin flute and tabouras, a traditional string instrument. He has studied classical guitar, byzantine music, harmony of music, counterpoint and fugue and is a graduate of the Visual Arts Music Department of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

He currently teaches at the Music School of Volos and at Byzatine music school of the Volos Cathedral, while he is also a permanent changer at a Volos church. He has a very rich career in the classical, contemporary and traditional music repertoire and he has performed in numerous venues in Greece and abroad as a soloist, working together with various Greek and foreign orchestras among which the Bavarian Radio Orchestra and Choir, The National Symphonic Orchestra, the ERT orchestras, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Ionian University, the state orchestra of Thessaloniki.

He has premiered many songs and compositions by various Greek composers, among wich DImitris Maragopoulos, Konstantia Gourzi, Thodoris Karathodoros, Christos Chatzis, Spyros Deligiannopoulos and has worked with many renowned Greek singers, like Giorgos Dalaras, Maria Faradouri, Chronis Aidonidis, Nena Venetsanou, Dimitra Galani, Alkistis Protopsalti, Ross Daly, Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Babis Tsertos, Christos Mastoras, Areti Ketime and many more.

He has recorded many times either as a singer or as an instrument player.
